Where Ideas Grow
Karen Galle
Research fellow

Karen Galle received a BSc in Biology at the University of Porto.  She then took her Master's Degree in Applications in Biotechnology and Synthetic Biology from the same university. Her master's thesis was developed at Angstromlaboratoriet of Uppsala University in Sweden as an Erasmus + student, where she aimed to improve the isoprene production in Synhecocystis sp. by downregulating native competitive pathway via RNA interference. She had the opportunity to genetic engineer both E.coli and Synechocystis strains using concepts of molecular and synthetic biology.

In 2022, enrolled in an Pos Gradution in  Computational Statistical Modelling at Faculty os Science and at the moment, she is a research fellowship in the Molecular Biomaterials Group at i3S, where she getting training in cell culture and biomaterials.
