Angela Domingues
Research fellow

Angela Domingues holds a Master’s in bioengineering from the University of Porto (MSc, 2025) and Bachelor’s in Medical Engineering from the University of Newcastle, Australia (BSc, 2021). Her background spans machine learning-based stroke recovery prediction (bachelors final project), reproductive biology research, medtech startup product validation, and translational bioengineering. During her Master’s thesis, she developed a osteosarcoma–bone biomimetic model, exposing her to 3D cell cultures, hydrogel-based systems, and early biofabrication approaches. She later contributed to integrating plasma treatment into a 3D bioprinting platform at the University of Newcastle to enhance material biofunctionalisation. She is currently a research fellow in the Advanced Graphene Biomaterials group at i3S, working on the GO-Graft project, with a strong interest in translational biomaterials research.
