I started my academic training in 2008 with a BSc in Biochemistry by the University of Porto, were I studied the effects of an infection by mycobacterium avium in normal macrophages or carriers of the mutation C282Y in HFE gene. In 2009 I finished my MSc in Biochemistry also by University of Porto, were I worked in the characterization of the peroxisomal population in peripheral nervous system, and also in the role of plasmalogen?s during muscle development. Currently, I´m doing my PhD degree in Biomedical Sciences were my main goal has been the characterization of plasmalogen?s role during nervous system and muscle development.
