In June 2010 I obtained a B.Sc in Pathology, Cytological and Tanatological Anatomy, at the Escola Superior Saúde Vale Sousa - Instituto Politécnico de Saúde do Norte, CESPU. From September 2010 to February 2011 I worked as an assistant to the curricular unit - Estágio de Aprendizagem I for the degree in Pathology, Cytological and Tanatological Anatomy. In 2011 I joined the Nerve Regeneration Group at the Instituto de Biologia Molecular e Celular - IBMC, under the supervision of Dr. Pedro Brites. In the context of a research fellowship I developed my M.Sc research project entitled: The role of plasmalogens in the formation and maintenance of myelin in the central nervous system. In 2014 I was awarded a PhD Fellowship from FCT to developed my thesis work within the context of the Doctoral Program in Molecular and Cell Biology (MCBiology) by the Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar and IBMC. My main goal is to uncover the duality of neuronal and glial dysfunctions in the neuropathogenesis of plasmalogen deficiency.
