Where Ideas Grow
Joana Barbosa Pereira
Junior Researcher

Joana Barbosa Pereira graduated in Biological Sciences in 2008 at the University of Aveiro and completed her PhD at the University of Leeds in 2013, where she studied modern humans genetic diversity to infer the past of human populations. Ever since, Joana is a research scientist at i3S applying her know-how in human population studies to determine the possible influence of different mutations for the susceptibility of complex diseases such as cancer.

Joana is co-author of 16 publications in peer-reviewed papers with a h-index of 13.
