Jona Gebauer is a student of the Master in Life Science at the Leibniz University Hannover in Germany. He is currently conducting his Master’s thesis at the BSM group (i3S, University of Porto), under the supervision of Prof. Paula Tamagnini and Dr. Filipe Pinto, working on the redirection of photosynthetic electron flow in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 envisaging the improvement of heterologous redox enzyme activity. The work includes enzyme activity assays, generation and characterization of engineered strains.
Prior to this project, he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology at the Technical University of Braunschweig, where he worked with Actinomadura namibiensis on optimizing the production of the antiviral natural product Labyrinthopeptin.
