Mafalda Sousa has BSc degree in Mathematics Applied to Technology, a master degree in Computational Methods and a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Porto. She joined IBMC Morphological and Somatosensory Group in 2008, to develop biophysical mathematical models involved in pain processing, where she gathered laboratory experience in electrophysiological patch-clamp recording combined with theoretical/computational models. After the PhD, she joined the Pain Research group for performing experimental animal behavioural tests and developed a package of hardware and software to automate animal behavioural tests. Attended a Software Engineering master course and completed the curricula part. Since 2018 she works in the Advanced Light Microscopy unit as a BioImage Analyst, giving support to all i3S groups and external collaborations.
