João Rocha

João Rocha is a student of the Master in Functional Biology and Plant Biotechnology at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto (FCUP). He is currently at the BSM group, under the supervision of Paula Tamagnini and Catarina Pacheco, working on the generation and characterization of Synechocystis strains aiming at improving heterologous glycine betaine production.
Prior to this project, he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Biology at FCUP and contributed to the development of a microbial consortium for the removal of contaminants from estuarine environments (CIIMAR, under the supervision of Ana Paula Mucha).
