Mafalda Raposo obtained her BSc in Biotechonology in 2004. She got a research fellowship in 2007 to join to Department of Biology at the University of the Azores. Since 2009, she has been doing research in Machado-Joseph Disease (MJD/SCA3), nowadays, as a PhD student in Biology (3CBIO, University of the Azores, The main goals of her PhD project are to identify objective, accessible and easily measurable genomic and transcriptional biomarkers of MJD; these biomarkers should be useful to detect early pathogenic events, monitor disease progression and severity, as well as to enable improvements in the age at disease onset prediction.
