Andreia Dias completed a BSc in Genetics and Biotechnology from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), and a Masters in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto (FCUP). During the Master thesis, she focused on unravelling modulators of age-at-onset (AO) variability in FAP (Familial Amyloidotic Polyneuropathy) ATTRV30M. During that year, it was possible to dissect the role of complement C1Q genes as modulators of AO in Portuguese patients with TTR-FAP ATTRV30M. Recently, she finished her PhD in Biomedical Sciences at ICBAS. The aim of PhD project was to perform, for the first time in the Portuguese population, a whole-genome study and a whole transcriptome RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) to unravel variants involved in migraine and cluster headache susceptibility. In this follow-up, it was possible to functionally characterize a novel variant in the PRRT2 gene found in a Portuguese patient with hemiplegic migraine.  Nowadays, she's an Invited Assistant Professor at ICBAS at University of Porto.
