Career Development Unit
“Career Development is the lifelong process of managing learning, work, leisure, and transitions in order to move toward a personally determined and evolving preferred future.”

i3S is devoted to providing research staff, our most valuable asset, with the best environment for career development, and essential but often overlooked aspect of any endeavor for the progression of science and beyond. With this in mind, the i3S Career Development Unit (CDU) was created in October 2019 to promote researchers’ personal and professional growth.
The CDU will bring together a range of activities and resources to assist researcher in aligning academic and personal interests with professional opportunities. Our overarching goal is to ensure that our staff set their long-term career objectives, understand the curricular needs befitting the set career path, and are given opportunities to develop the required skills and aptitudes.
The CDU aims to empower staff to manage their own career development by making effective career choices and transitions. We will provide a network of key partners, comprehensive career development information, funding opportunities awareness, training and events. The CDU is in constant communication with researchers’ representatives, taking a dynamic approach to incorporate their points of view and feedback on future activities.
