Alexandra Moreira
Group leader
Alexandra Moreira holds a D. Phil. in Molecular Biology, University of Oxford, UK and a degree in Biochemistry, Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon. She currently holds a Principal Investigator position at the University of Porto and is the leader of the group Gene Regulation. Together with her research activities, A. Moreira lectures at ICBAS, teaches at several MSc and PhD courses and is a member of the Scientific Board of the Molecular and Cell Biology PhD Program, University Porto. A. Moreira has served as a member of the IBMC Executive Committee in the past. The objective of her research group is to understand the molecular mechanisms involved in the integration of RNAPII transcription and alternative pre-mRNA processing, with a focus on those events that are physiologically relevant in health and disease, using state-of-the-art molecular biology methodologies.
