Advanced Graphene Biomaterials
Project Manager
Daniela M. Sousa has graduated in Biology in 2006 at the University of Aveiro. In 2007, Daniela moved to INEB at the University of Porto to start her PhD studies in Biomedical Engineering (Faculty of Engineering). In the framework of her PhD research, Daniela focused her studies on the pharmacological potential of targeting a specific neuropeptide receptor, as a clinical therapeutic strategy to modulate bone regeneration/repair. In 2010-2011, Daniela has consolidated her scientific skills on the characterization of bone phenotype by means of using murine knockout and fracture models, at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research (in Sydney, Australia). After finishing her PhD in 2012, Daniela has pursued her studies on the design and development of new therapeutic strategies to promote bone regeneration. Currently, she is enrolled in a project aiming to analyse the clinical potential of an emergent receptor-antagonist compound on bone regeneration/repair by local delivery.
