Bárbara Ferreira is graduated in Biomedical Sciences by the Instituto Universitário de Ciências da Saúde (IUCS), Gandra, Portugal (2020) and holds a MSc in Biomedical Research from the University of Coimbra (2022). Her MSc dissertation was carried out at i3S - Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde under the supervision of Dr Bruno Sarmento and Dr Lino Ferreira and consisted of the establishment of a 3D multi-layered intestinal inflammation model. After finishing her MSc, she was granted a Research Fellowship where she worked with intestinal in vitro models to evaluate the cytotoxicity and bioavailability of nanomedicines. Her research interests include in vitro models of disease, tissue engineering and functionalized nanoparticles for targeted drug delivery.
