Cláudia Monteiro

Claudia Monteiro was born in Guarda in 1981. She studied biochemistry in the university of Coimbra. In 2006 Claudia got a Marie Curie Early stage Fellowship and started her PhD studies in Ute Römling group at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, with focus on regulation of biofilm formation in Salmonella and Escherichia coli. In 2011 Claudia finished her PhD studies and worked as post-doc in the same group in collaboration with the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and the company Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget (SCA), aiming at the development of antimicrobial cellulose fibers. Claudia is currently working as a post-doc at INEB, in the team Nanobiomaterials to control infection and thrombus formation. She is enrolled in the development of antimicrobial surfaces based on antimicrobial peptides for the prevention of bone implant-associated infections.
