Paula Sampaio
Team Member

Paula Sampaio holds a degree in Biochemistry and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Porto. She is a former visiting scientist in the group of Cayetano Gonzalez at EMBL and a former postdoctoral fellow in the IBMC Molecular Genetics group of Prof. Claudio Sunkel, where she studied the mechanisms of cell division. For the last 20 years, she has been head of the Advanced Light Microscopy scientific platform. She was the founder and national coordinator of PPBI - Portuguese Platform of BioImaging and is the Portuguese delegate to Euro-Bioimaging ERIC. At the University of Porto, Paula Sampaio is an invited lecturer at the Faculty of Science and at ICBAS, teaching bio-imaging in Masters and PhD programmes. She is also the organiser of the course series on Optical Microscopy Imaging for Biosciences and co-organiser of the EMBO course in Biomolecular Interaction Analysis. She is Co-PI in Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Collaborative Projects: Society for Knowledge Exchange in BioImage Analysis and COMULISglobe: Multimodal Imaging across Scales in Life Sciences and has been a member of the management committees of the COST Network of European BioImage Analysts (CA15124) and COMULIS - Correlated Multimodal Imaging in Life Sciences (CA17121) actions.
